Cheesies - The Crunchy Popped Cheese Snacks

By Jo Cooksey

Doing what we do, companies often send us products to review. We’ve had everything from a battery operated, hands free saucepan stirrer – not a success - to dog food – big success with the dogs.

The Dog Ate My Homework

Comparative newcomers to the snack market, Cheesies recently asked if they could send us some samples of their crunchy, popped cheese nibbles. After considering this for a nano second, we said yes. Crunchy popped cheese. Who would turn that down? Not us and as it turned out not the dogs either.

Bear with. Bit of a shaggy dog story here. The box of samples was delivered to the office and I bore them home and placed them carefully on the kitchen table.  Off I trotted to work, excited at the prospect of tucking into the Cheesie delights. Upon my return I was met with a scene of utter devastation and carnage. Alright, it wasn’t quite that bad. Our rescue dogs, Jack Russell and master criminal, Knuckles Cooksey (Matilda) and her hapless sidekick, Eric 'Fingers' Cooksey, (the Lurcher) had pulled off the heist of their lives and made off with the booty from the kitchen to their secret hideout in the lounge. Whereupon Knuckles had painstakingly opened each individual bag. She has history and I am utterly convinced that she has hidden opposable thumbs for this very purpose. The pair had duly scoffed the lot. Three whole bagful’s of fromage munchies and frankly they were now in a contented cheese coma.I swear they were smiling. Knuckles and Fingers were severely reprimanded and asked for 63 other offences to be taken in to consideration.

Great PR

I sent an email with photographic evidence to the people at Cheesies, explaining my predicament and apologising profusely for not being able to review their products. Fortunately, they saw the funny side and in a brilliant PR move, they sent us new samples, that had been personalised for me and the dogs.

This time, I left them in the office and arranged a tasting session with my colleagues. The result of which is on YouTube. The girls loved them and were really excited to find out that Cheesies made from chunks of cheese that are dried quickly and then baked. Meaning they are vegetarian, virtually carb fee, gluten free and high in protein so suitable for a keto diet. Not to mention they are very tasty and moreish.

One of the girls described them as ‘dangerous’ but in a good way. Another said they tasted like the crispy bit that has melted off the edge of a pizza or cheese on toast. Frankly, the best bit. They are as crunchy as crisps, but with more taste. They come in 3 varieties; Emmental, (the nutty one), Gouda, (the mild one) or Cheddar, (the punchy one). So, everyone’s cheesie preferences are covered. After the tasting everyone agreed they were the perfect snack to have with a glass of something alcoholic.
